Political contribution tax credit - QuebecYou can claim this credit if you made political contributions in cash or by cheque in 2019:
A - To the officials of municipal political parties or independent candidates authorized under the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities of Québec.
B - To the financial representatives of candidates for the leadership campaign of municipal political parties authorized under the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities of Quebec.
To claim this tax credit, please follow these steps:
1. On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", select "Quebec tax credits".
2. On the page to your right, scroll down to "Quebec tax credits» group and click on the plus "+" icon to the right of the line "Quebec line 414 - Tax credit for contributions to authorized Quebec political parties".
3- On the new page generated, enter the amount of municipal political contributions in the appropriate field, either on the line "Municipal political contributions" and then click "Next" at the bottom of the page.
The amount of contributions will be carried over to line 414 of the Quebec tax returns.
To consult the worksheet for line 414, select the line "Worksheet (Quebec)" on the left side menu under the fourth tab "Tax Return".
You can consult the Guide published by Revenu Québec on line 414, "Tax credit for contributions to authorized Quebec political parties".
If you are filing electronically, you should keep your receipts in case the CRA asks for them.
