Northwest Territories - Residency information for tax Administration agreements - Thchq land

The Government of Canada and the Thchq land have entered into a personal income tax administration agreement that provides that the Government of Canada will share the field of personal income tax with the Thchq land. This agreement also provides for the coordination of the Thchq Income Tax Law with the federal Income Tax Act.

For residents of the Northwest Territories - All individuals, including non-Thchq Citizens, who reside within the Thchq communities of Behchokö (Rae-Edzo), Whatì (Lac La Martre), Gamètì (Rae Lakes), or Wekweètì (Snare Lake) or on Thchq lands must identify themselves by ticking "Yes" in the box for "Residency information for tax administration agreements" on page 1 of the 2021 Northwest Territories Income Tax and Benefit Return.

All individuals, including Thchq Citizens, who do not reside within a Thchq community or on Thchq lands, should tick "No".

All individuals, including non-Déliné First Nation (DFN) citizens, who reside on Déliné Settlement Lands or in the Community of Déliné have to identify themselves by ticking ''Yes".

All individuals, including Déliné First Nation (DFN) citizens, who do not reside on Déliné Settlement Lands or in the community of Déliné should tick ''No".

To identify yourself, please follow these steps:

1. On the "Left-side menu of the Interview tab", select the "CRA Questions" topic.

2. On the screen to your right, go to "Residency information for tax administration agreements".

3. On the line "Name of First Nation where taxpayer was living on December 31", choose the answer that corresponds to your situation from the drop-down menu.
