EFILE - Authentication failed

In order to use EFILE, you must register with the CRA. You will be provided with an EFILE number and password. Yearly renewal is mandatory for your continued participation in electronic filing. To register for the first time or to renew your registration, please contact the CRA by clicking on the appropriate link:

You can verify your EFILE number and password:

If the EFILE number and password are correct, and you cannot file the tax returns to the CRA or Revenu Québec, please click on the "settings" menu from the top-right corner, and select the option "EFile - NetFile setup". Delete the information in the fields "CRA EFILE number" and "CRA EFILE password", then enter them again.

If you are a resident of Quebec, delete the information in the fields "NetFile Québec number" and "NetFile Québec password", then enter them again.

NOTE: The format of the CRA's EFILE number and/or NetFile Québec number is Axxxx, where A is a letter and xxxx digits.

Click on "Review" tab to update the information.

If you are still experiencing difficulties, it is possible that your system is retaining your old password. To remove a stored password or other stored information in Internet Explorer, please follow these steps:

1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Internet options".

2. Under the "General" tab, in "Browsing history", click "Delete..."

3. Choose to delete the passwords.

4. Click "Delete".

Try again to send the tax returns via EFILE.
