OrganDonorConsent

Does the taxpayer authorize the Canada Revenue Agency to give his or her name, address, and date of birth to the provincial Government for the purpose of being contacted or sent information about organ and tissue donation and to maintain the Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.

You are not consenting to organ or tissue donation when you authorize the CRA to share your contact information with the provincial Government. Your information will only be used under the Health Information Act and Human Tissue Donation Act.

The authorization is valid until the taxpayer files his or her next tax return.

Title

Use the keyword Title to specify the way you want to address your client. You can enter any designation or title you wish printed including Ms., Dr., and Prof., among others. If you do not enter a title, DT Max will default to "Mr." for all males and to "Mrs." for all married females. In the case of deceased taxpayers, DT Max will print, by default, "Estate of the Late" in front of the taxpayer's name.

  See the Taxnet Pro™ T1 Line-by-Line Guide (subscription required):

Care-of

If the address on the tax return is not your client's, and you are using a care-of address other than that of the tax preparer, enter Care-of and the name of the person in care-of whom the client is being addressed.

Occupation

Use the keyword Occupation to specify the client's line of work.

Employer

Use the keyword Employer to enter the name of the client's current employer.

Old-Name

Use Old-Name to enter the name that was used in the client's previous year income tax return, if different from this year. You must enter it in the following format: first name, last name. When you update your database to the next taxation year, the old name would be redundant and will be automatically removed from your database. Unless this is entered, the CRA will assume that the client's name has not changed.

First-Year

Use the keyword First-Year to indicate if this is the taxpayer's first year of filing a tax return.

Secondary keywordMiddle-Name

Use the keyword Middle-Name to enter the client's middle name.

First-YearQ

First-YearQ First year of filing a Quebec tax return

Communal-Org

If your client is a member of a communal organization, this information must be transmitted by efile. Such individuals are not eligible to contribute to a registered retirement savings plan on this income. This information will enable DT Max and the CRA to avoid providing a RRSP field for these clients.

Diplomat-Family

If the taxpayer is an officer or a servant of another country, such as a diplomat, or a family member or employee of such a person and doesn't have to pay tax at any time in the taxation year, then this return is not eligible for
- Schedule 6 - Canada Workers benefit;
- Climate action incentive.

No-Income

Use the keyword No-Income to indicate that a tax return with no income is filed knowledgeably. This is helpful because blank returns can easily be filed accidentally, especially when efiled. Without this keyword, a return with no income will be rejected when efiled.

VirtualTransaction

Use the keyword VirtualTransaction to indicate that the taxpayer received virtual currency. The use of virtual currency as a method of payment or as a means of exchange is considered a transaction barter. There may therefore be a tax impact if in particular:
  • you use such currency to acquire goods or services;
  • you convert it into monetary currency;
  • you exchange it for another virtual currency;
  • you use it to donate.

Likewise, there may be a tax impact if you are mining cryptocurrency. To report income from using virtual currency or cryptocurrency mining, you need to determine whether that income is considered a gain (or a loss) in capital or as business income (or loss). To do this, consult the guides Capital gains and losses (IN-120) and Business or professional income (IN-155).
