Officer

If the officer is not a partner, use Officer to enter information requested on the partnership information returns about partnerhip officers. If the officer is also a partner, enter the informmation in the Partners group.

Unless otherwise entered, DT Max will assume (as a default condition) that the Signing Officer is the president of the partnership. If the situation is otherwise, the data must be entered.

The following options are applicable for the keyword Officer.

  • Signing officer
    • Partnership's signing officer, if not entered in Partners group.
  • Principal promoter
    • Principal promoter - required for tax shelter.

Secondary keywordFirstName

This is the first name of the signing officer as you want it printed on the information return.

Secondary keywordName.Officer

This is the surname of the signing officer as you want it printed on the information return.

Secondary keywordTitle

Use the keyword Title to select the signing officer's position, rank of office.

The following options are applicable for the keyword Title.

  • President
    • The president will be assumed to be the signing officer of the corporation if no signing officer is entered.
  • Vice-president

  • Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary-treasurer

  • Other (specify)

Secondary keywordPhone.offr

The officer's phone number entered here will be printed on the information return, where requested. If when using the PrintPhone keyword, you have entered "No", no phone numbers will be printed on any returns.

If PrintPhone, in your User defaults or for this particular client is "Yes" and no phone number is entered for a particular officer or partner, DT Max will print the partnership's phone number.

Secondary keywordID-Number

Enter the SIN for an individual, the business number (BN) assigned by the CRA for a corporation or partnership and the trust account number assigned by the CRA for a trust.

Secondary keywordQC-IDNumber

Enter the Quebec identification number of the principal promoter.

Secondary keywordSignDate

Use the keyword SignDate to enter the date of signing to be printed on the partnership's information returns.

If SignDate is not entered, then the date the return is calculated will be used.

Secondary keywordPosition.con

If you are generating CRA form AUT-01, it must only be signed by an individual with proper authority for the partnership, for example, an owner, a partner of a partnership, a corporate director, an officer of a non-profit organization, a trustee of an estate, or an individual with delegated authority. An authorized representative cannot sign this form unless they have delegated authority.

If no selection is made, DT Max will tick "a partner of a partnership".

The following options are applicable for the keyword Position.con.
