Security System

In order to ensure the safety of your DT Max data, it is highly recommended that the DT Max Security System be activated. The Security System must be applied separately to each database and will restrict access to the DT Max database to those assigned a user name and password. Unique profiles can be set up for each user to limit certain software functions, such as the ability to extract data from the DT Max database or deleting clients. Here's how to set up your DT Max Security System:

Step 1 - Create a password for yourself

From the DT Max menu select Preferences > Security system > Your personal passwords and rights. In the window, enter your new password in the top right box and enter it again just below. Make sure that System supervisor (full rights) box is checked. The rest of the information is optional. Click Save when finished.

Step 2 - Activate DT Max user passwords

You must assign passwords to the DT Max users. From the DT Max menu select Preferences > Security system > Individual users' passwords and rights. Select a DT Max user id from the list and select Edit. Enter the user's new password. Uncheck the System supervisor option. Assign the required access rights for each user; be sure to understand the implications of giving or taking away access rights.

Step 3 - Activate database security

To complete activation of the Security System, you need your password created in step 1 as well as the database encryption password. You must call DT Tax and Accounting Technical Support Help Desk if the database encryption password is not known. From the DT Max menu select Preferences > Security system > Company database security policy. Enter your personal password and the database encryption password. Click on OK. If the passwords were correctly entered, the Passwords required option will become available. Click on Passwords required, finally click on Apply changes. Then, restart DT Max and enter your user id and personal password on the opening splash screen.
