If you file your T4 information return electronically, do not complete this T4 Summary.
Mandatory electronic filing
If you file more than 50 T4 slips for a calendar year, you must file the T4 return over the Internet.
You may choose one of the following electronic filing formats:For more information about filing electronically, go to www.cra.gc.ca/iref.
- Internet File Transfer (XML)
- Web Forms
You can also file your information returns online using the "File a return" service. Go to:
- www.cra.gc.ca/mybusinessaccount, if you are the business owner; or
- www.cra.gc.ca/representatives, if you are an authorized representative or employee.
Filing on paper
Complete this form using the instructions in the RC4120, Employers' Guide - Filing the T4 Slip and Summary.
The employer's name and payroll program account number have to be the same as shown on your PD7A remittance form.

Do you have a balance owing?
If you have a balance owing, you can make your payment in many different ways. You may be able to pay electronically through your financial institution's online or telephone banking services. My Payment is a payment option that allows individuals and businesses to make payments online, using the Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) Web site, from an account at a participating Canadian financial institution. For more information, go to
www.cra.gc.ca/mypayment.
If you want to mail your payment to the CRA, send a cheque or money order payable to the Receiver General with a CRA remittance voucher or write your account number on the front of your cheque. For more information on how to make your payment, go to www.cra.gc.ca/payments. If you remit your payment late, any balance due may be subject to penalties and interest at the prescribed rate.
