  • CPT16 - Application for exempt CPP religious



Use this form if:

  • you are a self-employed worker;

  • you are applying to not have to pay into the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) on your self-employed earnings for religious reasons; and

  • you are a member of a certified religious sect or division of a religious sect. For more information, go to canada.ca/cpp-ei-explained and choose "Religious sects and the Canada Pension Plan" or call 1-800-959-5525.

Fill out and send us this form on or before December 31 of this calendar year, if you want your application to be effective as of this year. Read the instructions on page 2 to find out how and where to send us this form.

Write "religious exemption" to the right of line 310 of your Schedule 1, Federal Tax, if you file your Income Tax Return on paper. Line 310 is called "CPP or QPP contributions on self-employment and other earnings."
