Why is DT Max not limiting the additional deduction of $500 when the amount in column 6 of Schedule 8 is less than $500?
When the taxation year straddles 2016 (days in 2016 and ends after Dec 31, 2016), and the amount in column 6 of Schedule 8 is less than $500, DT Max takes the additional deduction of $500 as CCA. The maximum amount of CCA claimed in column 12 of Schedule 8 should be limited to column 6 times the number of days in the tax year divided by 365.
As a workaround, use the keyword CCAClassOV within the CCA-Class group in order to enter the correct amount.
Please note that the same situation also exists on Alberta Schedule 13 and Quebec CO-130.A. You may use Alt + J if necessary to enter a different provincial amount for the keyword CCAClassOV .
