Program(s) affected: T1 Document created: 03 27, 2026
Tax year(s): 2025 Document last modified: 04 01, 2026
Version(s): 29.10, 29.11, 29.12 Problem status: Fixed in v29.20

Is the 2024 tax year rule from the CRA that the amount from box 36 of the T4FHSA should not be reported under line 68955 of Schedule 15 - FHSA Contributions Transfers and Activities when this amount is greater than the amount reported under line 68950 (T4FHSA boxes 32 and 34) of the Schedule 15 - FHSA Contributions Transfers and Activities, still applicable to the 2025 tax year?

No, for the 2025 tax year, the software allows you to enter an amount on line 68955 of the Schedule 15 (T4FHSA box 36) even if it exceeds the amount on line 68950 (T4FHSA boxes 32 and 34) of the same Schedule. However, the amount that will actually be claimed on line 68955 of the Schedule 15 will automatically be limited to the lesser of:
  • The amount reported in Box 36 of your T4FHSA slip.
  • The amount reported on Line 19 of Schedule 15.

What is the logic behind this change?

The updated calculation ensures that the total amount transferred from a First Home Savings Account (FHSA) to a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) does not exceed the amount transferred from an RRSP to an FHSA.

Important Notice:

After thorough verification, we have identified that this is an issue affecting versions before version 29.20 of the 2025 tax year software. As such, the calculation for Schedule 15 - FHSA Contributions Transfers and Activities has been updated to allow you to enter an amount on line 68955 even if it is greater than the amount reported on line 68950 of the same schedule.

Please note, however, that the amount actually claimed on line 68955 will automatically be limited to the lesser of the two following amounts:

  • The amount reported in Box 36 of your T4FHSA slip, and
  • The amount reported on Line 19 of Schedule 15.

Any amount you enter that exceeds this limit will therefore be adjusted automatically, and the lesser of the two amounts above will be used as your claim on line 68955.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience.
