T1013 - Authorizing or cancelling a
representative
For users of the UFile PRO product, we have added the
possibility of using the T1013 form, either to request or cancel
the authorization to represent a client.
You must meet the following requirements:
A) You are a preparer registered
for EFILE
- EFILE number
- EFILE password
- Authorized as a T1013 filer
B) You are registered as a representative and you have
a Rep ID (and Group
ID or Business number, when
applicable)
C) The "EFILE-NetFile" setup is up-to-date.
You must select a default value by completing one of the
fields and subsequently check the box "Authorize online
access to the T1013"
D) The taxpayer's file has been created
- Identification page
- Address page
- CRA questions
Note if the taxpayer has a spouse the same
data is applicable.
Remarks
Identification, address and CRA questions are the minimum data
required for correct operation.
You can submit the T1013 by EFILE or in paper format.
To enter the information, please follow this procedure;
1. On the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab", select the "Interview setup".
2. On the right-hand page, select the "Authorizing or
cancelling a representative (T1013)" checkbox and click
"Next" at the bottom of the page.
3. Return to the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab" and under the "Specific situations"
tab, select the "T1013".
4. In the page that appears you must choose if you wish to
submit electronically or in paper format. To do this on the line
"Do you want to submit the T1013 by paper or
EFILE?", select the relevant option that suits you.
5. Then, enter the representative's information and any other
relevant information pertaining to the taxpayer.
You must print the T1013 and ask the taxpayer to sign it.
Then, if you are authorized to submit electronically, go to the
"EFILE" tab and select "Federal T1013
- Ready for filing" and on the next page follow the
instructions.
NOTE To download the client's federal tax
data, you must submit the T1013 in advance.
However, if the client does not want you to submit
electronically, they must mail the form to the CRA.
For Quebec residents, please note that MR-69 is not
available.
