Manitoba - Separate residence of the spouse
(medical reasons) - MB479
Were you and your spouse or common-law partner living apart at
the end of the year for medical reasons?
If this was the case, and you and your spouse lived in separate
residences for part of the year or during a full year on December
31 of the tax year, you can both claim credits on form MB479.
Please follow the steps below:
1- In the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", select
"Manitoba tax and credits".
2- On the screen to your right, select "Separate residences:
on December 31, you and your spouse were occupying separate
residences for medical reasons".
3- On the page "Separate residence of the spouse", to the
question "On December 31, 2019, did you occupy a residence that
was separate from your spouse's for medical reasons?", in the
drop-down menu to the right, answer "Yes".
The program will produce two forms MB479 and will carry over
to line 47900 of both federal taxes returns the
credits for each spouse.
