What are cookies?
A cookie is a file containing information that identifies you to
a website like UFile ONLINE. Thus, as you prepare your tax return
with UFile ONLINE, we ensure that your identity remains validated
for the duration of your online session. Similarly, if you send
your return electronically to the CRA or Revenu Québec, other
cookies will be created to identify you. Cookies are actually a
method of session management.
Note that the cookie created for you will not contain your Social
Insurance Number, your user ID or password. This means that your
cookie is only useful in relation to your UFile ONLINE session.
Therefore, even if someone managed to locate your cookie on the
workstation you are using, this person would not be able to use
this information to enter the site and could not have access to
your tax information.
Most browsers keep cookies enabled by default. If you have
previously disabled them, make sure to enable them again before
accessing UFile ONLINE.
Remember that if you choose not to accept cookies, it will not be
possible to use UFile ONLINE or file your tax return with the CRA
and Revenu Québec via the Internet.
