Tax credit for home-support services for seniors -
Apartment building
If you live in an apartment building that is not a private
seniors' residence, you may claim certain credits.
Note that the portion eligible for the tax credit is
5% of the monthly rent. The maximum eligible monthly rent is
$600.
You can claim the cost for all services allowed as defined. For

1 - On the left-side menu of
the " Interview " tab, selects
"Senior home support".
2 - On the screen to your right, choose the option "You lived in
an apartment building (other than a private senior's
residence)".
3 - In the page that appears, enter the relevant information, if
the head of household or the spouse were 70 years or older at the
end of the year are a dependent senior.
4 - If you had one or more co-tenants please indicate on the line
"Did you live with one or more co-tenants? (Do not consider your
spouse)" and enter the number of co-lessees in the next
line.
5 - If you paid for eligible home-support services that were not
included in your rent, enter the information in the section
"Cost of home-support services not included in rent" located
at the bottom of the page.
The program will calculate your portion of the eligible rent
based on the number of co-tenants. However, the cost of services
not included in the rent you paid will not be reduced by the number
of co-tenants.
Schedule J will be generated and the refundable tax
credit for home-support services for seniors will be entered on
line 458 of the Québec declaration.
Only people aged 70 and over are entitled to credit for
home-support.
