Death of a RIFF Annuitant - Designated Benefit -
T4RIF
Your question is "I received a T4RIF slip with an amount in
Box 18, and my spouse died. How do I proceed?".
First, as the legal representative of the annuitant or his
designated beneficiary, you must to fill out the
federal form T1090 and, for the residents
of Quebec, form TP-961.1.
It should be noted that these forms are not generated by the
program, you must fill them on the Canada Revenue Agency's website
and / or Revenu Québec's website.

To deduct the amount transferred to you in Box 18 of the

1. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview
tab", select the "Other deductions and
credits".
2. Choose "Other Deductions and Credits" and on the
screen to your right, click on
the plus sign "+" icon
to the right of the line "Federal Line 23200 - Other deductions
(Quebec line 250)".
3. A new page will appear with the header "Other
deductions". On this page, go to "Description and amounts of
other deductions not included in the CNIL".
4. On the first field, indicate the source of the deduction, for
example "T1090 and TP-961.1 amount transfer to the spouse",
and in the second field the amount to be deducted.
You must print both return and send them by mail as well as form
