Self-employment - Schedule 13
If you are self-employed and are registered at the employment
insurance program, you must complete Schedule 13.
Before completing Schedule 13, you must enter all the
information that pertains to income from self-employment, because
you must get the amount of the net business income, either
from line 12200 lines or from lines 13500 to 14300 as
applicable, of the federal return.
Click the "Review" tab later in the
"Left side menu on the Review tab" select the line
"Federal" and you will find the net business
income.
Afterwards, return to the "Interview" tab and
in the "Left side menu on the Interview tab",
select the item "Self-employment income".
On the screen to your right, choose "Schedule 13 -
Employment Insurance premiums on self-employment and other eligible
earnings (Participant)".
On the page that appears, enter the relevant information.
However, please read the notes carefully.
The program will carry over the amount of the Employment
Insurance premiums at line 31217 of Step 5 of the federal
return and generate Schedule 13.
For residents of Quebec, Schedule R Quebec Parental
Insurance Plan (QPIP Premium will be generated by the
program, which will carry over the amounts on lines 248 and 439 of
the Quebec return.
Note that you must have entered into an agreement with the
Employment Insurance Commission.
