Food bank tax credit for farmers - Quebec
You can claim a non-refundable credit, plus 50% of the eligible
amount of food donations, if you meet all the following
conditions:
You were a recognized agricultural producer.
- The donation was made to a registered charity that was a
member of the Food Banks of Quebec network (either a Moisson member
or, in the case of a donation made after March 17, 2016, an
associate member).
- The donated food products were eligible agricultural
products.

To enter this credit for food donations, proceed as follows:
1. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview
tab", select the "Interview setup".
2. On the page that appears to the right, go to the
"Common Tax Deductions" group, check the box for
"Donations and political contributions" and click
"Next" at the bottom of the page.
3. Return to the "Left-side menu on the Interview
tab" and select the "Donations / political
contributions".
4. On the right page, click the sign plus
"+" icon to the right of the line
"Community food program donation (after March 26,
2015)".
5. On the page that appears, enter the relevant information.
However, if you want to share gifts between spouses, follow this
procedure;
1. Return to the "Donations / political
contributions" and the screen on the right, scroll down to
the "Sharing and optimization" group, and click
the plus sign "+" icon
located to the right of the line "Sharing donations between
spouses and optimization of donations".
2. On the page that appears, go to the "Federal -
Charitable donations" section and from the drop-down menu,
choose the option that corresponds to your situation.
3. Go to the "Quebec - Charitable donations and other
gifts" section and choose the option that corresponds to
your situation.
The program will generate Schedule 9 of the federal
return and will report the amount on line 34900 of the
schedule.
For Quebec, the program will generate Schedule
V and will report the amount on line 5
of it. Your non-refundable credit will be carried forward by the
program at line 395 of the Quebec return.
