Employment Insurance Maternity and Parental
Benefits
If you have received maternity and parental benefits from
Employment Insurance, you should receive a T4E slip as well as a
letter from Employment and Social Development Canada
(ESDC) indicating the amount received in 2019.
For the year 2019 and following, you must report this
benefit on new line 11905 added to the federal
return.
If you have received maternity and parental benefits from
Employment Insurance or provincial parental insurance benefits. You
should receive a letter from Employment and Social
Development Canada (ESDC) confirming the Maternity
and Parental Benefit.
We have added a new line to the T4E
slip program: Employment Insurance Maternity and
Parental Benefits.
To enter this amount, follow this procedure.
1. In the "Left-menu on the Interview tab", select the
"T4 and employment income" section;
2. On the screen that appears, go to the "T4 and T4E"
group and choose the line "T4E - Employment Insurance and other
benefits";
3. On the page that is generated, enter fields 7, 14, and others
on your T4E slip.
4. You enter the amount that Employment and Social
Development Canada gave you on the line, "Employment
Insurance Maternity and Parental Benefits".
This amount will be reported by the program on line
11905 of the federal return.
This amount is already included in box 14 of the T4E slip and it
will be carried over to line 11900 of the federal
return.
