Rent for Student residence - Ontario
If you were a student who lived in a designated Ontario
university, college, or private school residence, you may claim $25
as your occupancy cost for the part of the year you lived in such a
residence.

administrator or the Ontario Ministry of Finance at the

To claim this credit, please follow the steps below:
1- On the "Left side menu of the Interview
tab", select "Ontario tax and
credits".
2- On the page on your right, choose "ON-BEN -
Application for 2022 Ontario Trillium
Benefit..." as well as "ON-BEN - Declaration
for designated student residence".
3- On the page "Application
for X~TAX_YEAR_PLUS_1~X Ontario
Trillium Benefit...", for the line "Applying
for the X~TAX_YEAR_PLUS_1~X Ont.
energy and property tax credit (ON-BEN L.6118)" in
the drop-down menu, select "Yes".
4- On the page "Property tax credit/Residence
credit", enter the relevant information.
The program will report the information on the "ON-BEN -
Energy/property credit" form.
