Alimony or support payments made
To enter the amount you paid in the form of alimony or support
payments, please follow the steps below:
1. On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", select
"Interview setup".
2. On the right-hand side of the screen, go to the "Parents
and children" group, check the box for "Alimony
or support payments" then click "Next" at the
bottom of the page.
3. Return to the "Left side menu on the Interview tab",
select "Alimony or support payments" and on the
right-hand side of the screen, choose "Support
payments made by you".
4. A page will be posted entitled "Support paid to your
ex- spouse". enter information relevant to your
ex-spouse.
5. At the line "Total amount of support payment made
in 2021 (including the non-deductible child
support payable for 2021)", enter the amount you
paid for the year only, if you have paid arrears enter
the amount of the "Amount or support arrears payments
made" line. If a portion of the pension was for a child,
enter the payment to the "Non-deductible child
support payable for 2021 " line.
The total amount of support payments will be deferred by the
program to line 21999 of the federal income tax
return, and the amount of eligible pension
deduction will be reported on line 22000.
For residents of Quebec, only the amount of alimony is
deductible reported on line 225 of the Quebec return.
