T4 Slip - Box 43 - Canadian forces personnel and
police deduction
To enter the amount displayed in Box 43 of your T4 slip, and
for Quebec residents in Box A-7 of the RL-1.
Please follows the procedure below:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab", select "T4 and employment
income".
2- For members of the Canadian Forces and police
forces, who reside outside Quebec, on the right side of
the screen, choose the option "T4 income earned outside
Quebec".
3- For Canadian Forces members residing in
Quebec, please select the option "T4 and RL-1 income
earned in Quebec with CPP contributions".
4- For members of police forces residing in
Quebec, please choose the option "T4 and RL-1 income
earned in Quebec with QPP contributions".
5- Go to the bottom of the page "T4 - Statement of
Remuneration Paid (RL-1)" in the last section
"Other information (click on the triangle to see the list
of choices)" and from the drop-down menu, choose option
"Box 43 - Canadian Forces personnel's ded.)" or
"Box 43 - Police deduction" and enter the amount
in the corresponding field.
The amount will be reported on line 24400 of your federal tax
return and, for Quebec residents, on line 297 of the
Quebec return, with code 23 displayed on line 296.
This deduction for Canadian Forces personnel and police forces
is a deduction for those who have been assigned to high-risk or
medium-risk missions underway outside Canada. For more details,
contact your employer.
Please note that the amount in Box 43 of
the T4 must be less than the amount in Box 14 of the T4.
