RL-27 slips - Box A, Government payments
The amount displayed in Box A of the RL-27 slip refers to
amounts received from a department or agency of the Quebec
government during the taxation year. This amount must be included
as business income in the recipient's tax return.
To report business income, follow the steps below:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", select
"Interview setup".
2- Then, on the page appearing on the right, go to the
"Self-employment" group, and check the box "Self-employed
business income", also if you paid by instalments, go to the
"Tax paid by instalments" group and check the
box "Tax paid by instalments, tax transfer for resident of
Quebec" and click "Next" at the bottom of the page.
3- Back in the "Left side menu on the Interview tab",
select "Self-employment income".
4- Then, on the right-hand side, among the different options
available (business income, professional income, commission income,
etc.), select the one that applies to your situation.
5- Complete the page for "Identification of the company",
enter your fiscal year as well as the classification code of your
company according to the North American Industry Classification
System (NAICS). To find your NAICS code, you
must click on the question mark "?", a window will pop up on
the right-hand side of the field, with the complete list of the
NAICS codes, to allow you to determine the code associated with
your company's field of activity.
6- If applicable, do not forget to include your identification
numbers for both the federal and Quebec governments.
7- Subsequently, after entering your company's identification
information, a sub-menu in the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab" will appear in order for you to enter the applicable
information in "Income, Expenses", "Motor vehicle
expenses", "Home office expenses" and so on.
8- In the section "Income, expenses", please enter the
payment amount received in the field "Other income
(specify)". This field is located at the bottom of the
"Business income" section.
Gross income will be reported on line 13499 and net income on
line 13500 of the federal return, while for residents
of Quebec, income will be reported on line 164.
You do not have to attach this slip to your tax return. Keep
this copy for your records instead. Furthermore, please note that a
copy was sent by the emitter to Revenu Québec.
