Medical expenses - Travel expenses - Federal
If you had to travel at least 40 kilometres (one way) from your
home to obtain medical services, you may be able to claim the
travel expenses incurred to obtain such medical services.
Also, if you had to travel to a location at least 80
kilometres (one way) from your home for medical care, you could
also claim the accommodation costs.
However, we invite you to consult the CRA website by clicking on

To claim these travel expenses, please follow these steps:
1. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab", select
"Medical, disability, caregiver".
2. On the new page generated on your right, choose the option
"Medical expenses".
3. Enter the information in the first section of the
"Medical expenses" page.
4. NOTE: for Quebec residents, travel expenses
cannot be claimed if the distance travelled is less than 200
kilometres. In this case, click on the "Maple Leaf" icon to
generate a field for Quebec and enter $0,00.
We recommend that you keep all your receipts and keep a record
of expenses you incurred.
Note that for Quebec residents, regarding medical
expenses for services that are not available in your area, the
distance travelled must be more than 200 kilometres and the
expenses are claimed on line 378 of the Quebec return.
Therefore, make sure to enter the relevant information on the
"Medical expenses" page, in the second section
entitled "Expenses for medical services not available within 200
kilometres of your area".
