Infertility - treatment for in vitro
fertilization
To claim this partially refundable credit in
Quebec, for infertility treatment, you must meet the
following conditions:
* You must be a resident of Quebec on December 31 of the tax
year.
* Eligible costs must be related to the treatment of in vitro
fertilization, for a woman of childbearing age and must not be
covered by a health insurance plan.
* Eligible expenses were paid during the tax year.
As such expenses are subject to an annual ceiling of $ 20,000,
the maximum credit that may be claimed is $ 10,000 per year.
It should be noted that the reimbursement rate is based on
family income.

NOTE: Since November 11, 2015, significant
changes were made by the government.
Neither you nor your spouse can have a child before the start
of the in vitro fertilization treatment.

To claim this refundable tax credit, please follow these
steps:
1. On the left-side menu of
the " Interview " tab,
select the "Interview setup".
2. On the right-hand side of the screen, go to the "Parents and
children" group, check the box "Adoption expenses and
treatments of infertility" and click "Next" at the
bottom of the page.
3. Return to the left-side menu on the
" Interview " tab and select
"Adoption expenses and treatment of infertility".
4. On the page generated on the right, click on
the plus "+" icon to the right of the line
"Quebec line 462 - TP-1029.8.66.2 - Tax credit with respect to
the treatment of infertility" option.
5. On the page that appears, enter the relevant
information.
6. If you want to share the credit with your spouse, then online
"Portion of the tax credit claimed by your spouse", enter
the portion of the credit allocated of the costs incurred.
Note that some of these costs can also be claimed
on your federal return as a medical expense. To do so,
please follow the steps below:
1. Return to the left-side menu on
the " Interview " tab and
select "Medical, disability, caregiver".
2. On the right, choose the "Medical expenses" option.
3. In the page entitled "Medical Expenses", enter a
description of the treatment and the date (DD/MM/YYYY), and in the
field preceded by the sign "$", enter the amount of expenses
incurred.
4. Click on the "Maple Leaf" icon located to the right of
the box where you entered the amount, and a new field will be
generated for the provincial level, in which you must enter
$0.00.
5. If you want to add other medical expenses, click "+"
located to the right of the screen.
The program will generate the form TP-1029.8.66.2,
carry over the amount of refundable credit on line 462 and code 11
will be included on line 461 of the Quebec return. However, if
multiple credits apply to line 462, Code 99 will appear.
To determine which credits are included, see the "Worksheet
(Quebec)" option as well as the worksheet corresponding
with the line "462 Other credits", which will be displayed
in your Quebec tax return.
In addition, the program will report on line 33000 of
federal tax return the non-refundable tax credit for
medical expenses claimed.
