Day Camp Fee - Child care or Activity Tax Credit
for Children - Quebec
Your child has spent time in a day camp for which you received a
RL- 24 slip for childcare expenses and a federal statement from the
same camp for the child's activities.
As a first step in determining the childcare expenses from the
activity expenses, you must deduct the amount of the federal
receipt from the RL-24 slip.
The excess is the amount of the fees for the child's activities,
while the amount of the RL-24 is the amount of childcare expenses
at both the federal and Quebec levels.
1. On the child's file, enter the childcare expenses under the
heading "Childcare expenses" and on the right-hand
page, click on
the plus sign "+" icon
to the right of the line "Daycare (include day
camp)".
2. On the page that appears, enter the relevant information. On
the line "Amount paid to the daycare centre for this
child", enter the amount of federal childcare expenses and
on the second line, enter the amount from Box E of the RL-24
slip.
3. Then, go to "Fitness and recreation" or
"Children arts amount". Enter the relevant
information on each topic if necessary.
4. Since the federal government has eliminated the credit for
children's activities, enter the amount for the jurisdiction where
you resided on December 31 of the tax year if your province grants
a credit for children's activities.
For Quebec residents, the refundable credit is entered on line
462 of the Quebec return.
