Childcare expenses - Camp
To claim childcare expenses, in the case of a child who has
stayed in a summer camp in the tax year, you must enter the
expenses in the child's file.
To create a tax file for the child, please follow the steps
below:
1. In the "Interview" tab on the line of "Family
head", click on "Add a dependant" which is located to
the right on this line.
2. On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", enter the
information relating to the identification of the child to the
"Dependant identification".
Once you have created the child's file, enter the childcare
expenses with the following steps:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab" of the
child's file, select "Childcare".
2- On the page appearing on the right, select the type of
childcare, in this case "Camp (dependant stayed overnight)",
and fill out the fields accordingly.
Residents of Quebec must enter either the social insurance
number (SIN) of the person who paid the childcare expenses or the
business identification number of the childcare provider.
Note: The child must have spent the night there.
The program will determine the eligibility and the amount of the
deduction by applying the relevant limits.
We suggest that you read the note located in Part A of Form
T778, which indicates the maximum amounts paid per week.
