Political contribution tax credit - Newfoundland
and Labrador
You can claim a credit for the contributions you made in the tax
year to a registered Newfoundland and Labrador political party, to
a registered Newfoundland and Labrador district association, or to
a registered Newfoundland and Labrador independent political
candidate during an election period.
To claim the amount in the program, please follow these
steps:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab", select "Newfoundland and Labrador tax
credits".
2- On the page to your right, click on the plus
"+" icon to the right of the line "NL 428
line 61750 - Newfoundland and Labrador political contributions tax
credit".
3- On the new page generated, enter the amount of contributions
in the field "Provincial eligible political
contributions" and click "Next" at the
bottom of the page.
The program will calculate the amount for the Newfoundland and
Labrador Political Contribution Tax Credit, based on your total
provincial contributions, and report it to line 61750 of the
form NL428 - Newfoundland and Labrador Tax and
credits.
If your total political contributions are more than
$1,150, the credit will be $500 (maximum amount). If
not, it will be calculated on line 63 of the NL
Provincial worksheet from the left side menu, under the "Tax
Return" tab.
