T4 slip - Box 74 or 75 - RPP past-service
contributions
To report an amount shown in Box 74 or Box 75 of your T4, please
follow these steps:
1. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab", click on
"T4 and employment income" and select one of the "T4"
options on the right side of the screen that applies to your
situation.
2. Once on the "T4 slip income page", go to the bottom of
the page under the section "Other information (click on the
triangle to see the list of choices)", select "Box
74-Portion of box 20 re pre-1990 past service (contributor)" or
"Box 75 - Portion of 20 re pre-1990 past service (not a
contributor)" from the drop-down menu and enter the amount in
the corresponding field. Note that these amounts are included
in Box 20 of your T4 slip.
3. If you have amounts in both boxes (Box 74 and 75) of your T4,
first enter the amount from Box 74, then simply click on the plus
sign "+" found on the right side of the screen to bring up a
new box, in which you will enter the amount from Box 75.
4. If you have any RPP for post-1989 past-service contributions
not included in Box 20, you can enter the amount in the same
section by selecting "RPP for post-1989 past-service
contributions NOT included in Box 20" in the drop-down menu.
Enter the amount in the corresponding field.
5. The deduction for RPP will be carried over by the program to
line 20700 of the federal income tax return and to line 205
of the Quebec tax return.
The program will generate both the federal and Quebec schedules
(if applicable) for RPP deductions.
Only the RPP for post-1989 past-service contributions not
included in box 20 is not subject to the restriction of the maximum
annual deduction of $3,500 for the federal and $5,500 for
Quebec.
