Employment expenses - Apprentice mechani
If you are an apprentice mechanic and want to enter your
eligible employment expenses regarding the purchase of tools,
please follow the steps below:
1. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab", select
"Interview setup".
2. On the screen on your right, go to the "Employment and
other benefits" group, check the box for "Employment
expenses" and click "Next" at the bottom of the
page.
3. Return to the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab"
and select the line for "Employment expenses".
4. On the page generated on the right, click on the plus
sign "+" icon to the right of the line
"Eligible employment expenses for an apprentice vehicle
mechanic, painter, body repairer".
5. On the page titled "Eligible employment expenses for an
apprentice vehicle mechanic, painter, body repairer" enter the
information relevant to your situation and click "Next".
6. A new page entitled "Apprentice mechanics - eligible
tools" is displayed, click
the plus sign "+" at the bottom
of the line "Apprentice mechanic's tools expenses (for tool
purchase by employees)" and complete the page based on the
information you have.
7. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab", click on
"Employment conditions" which displays the "Declaration
of conditions of employment (T2200)" page completed by your
employer and complete the page by answering the questions
asked.
8. For residents of Quebec, go to the sub-section
"Employment conditions - Quebec" and answer the
questions.
The employer must complete the federal form
T2200 (questions 11 and 12 are mandatory) as well
as Quebec form TP-75.2. Quebec employers must complete
Part 2 of the form. However, you still have to complete both the
"Employment conditions" and "Employment conditions -
Quebec" forms if you are a Quebec resident.
It is not necessary to attach the federal T2200 and Quebec
TP-75.2 or the list of eligible tools. However, keep
these documents in case the CRA
or Revenu Québec asks to see them.

The eligible amount will be entered
on line 22900 of the federal
return and line 207 of the Quebec return.
The program will generate federal form T777 and Quebec form
TP-75.2.
