Political contribution tax credit - Alberta
If, during the year, you made contributions to a registered
Alberta political party, a candidate, a leadership or nomination
contestant, or a constituency association, you can enter them based
on the provincial receipts that you received, to claim the
non-refundable tax credit on line 60030 of the form
"AB428 Alberta Tax and Credits".
To claim the amount in the program, please follow these
steps:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", click on
"Alberta tax credits".
2- On the right-hand side of the screen, click on the plus
"+" icon to the right of the line "AB428 line 60030 -
Alberta political contributions tax credit".
3- On the new page, enter the amount of contributions in box
"Alberta eligible political contributions", then click
"Next" at the bottom of the page.
You must claim this credit on your return or within 90 days
after the date of the Notice of assessment or Notice of
reassessment for the tax year.
The program will calculate the amount for the Alberta
Political Contribution Tax Credit, based on your total
provincial contributions, and report it to line 60030 of
your form "AB428 - Alberta Tax and Credits".
If your total political contributions are more than
$2300, the credit will be $1000 (maximum amount). If
not, it will be calculated on line 60 of the AB
Provincial worksheet from the left side menu, under the "Tax
Return" tab.
