Political contribution - Ontario
If, during the year, you contributed to a registered Ontario
political party or constituency association, or to a candidate in
an Ontario provincial election, you can claim a refundable tax
credit for political contributions.
To claim the amount in the program, please follow these
steps:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab", select "Ontario tax credits".
2- On the page to your right, click on
the plus "+" icon to
the right of the line "ON 479 line 6175 - Ontario
political contributions tax credit".
3- On the new page generated, enter the amount of contributions
in the field "Provincial eligible political
contributions" and click "Next" at the
bottom of the page.
The program will calculate the amount for the Ontario Political
Contribution Tax Credit, based on your total provincial
contributions, and report it on line 63110 of
your ON479 - Ontario Credits form.
If your total political contributions are more
than $3,149 the credit will
be $1,384 (maximum amount). If not, it will be
calculated on line 4 of the ON Provincial
worksheet from the left side menu, under the "Tax
Return" tab.
If you are filing electronically, you should keep your receipts
in case the CRA asks for them.
