Political contribution tax credit - Nova
Scotia
You can claim a credit for political contributions that
corresponds to 75% of the amounts paid in the tax year to a
registered Nova Scotia political party or to a registered Nova
Scotia independent political candidate seeking election in the Nova
Scotia House of Assembly.
The annual amount of the credit is the lesser of:
- 75% of the contributions
- $750 (maximum amount).
To claim the amount in the program, please follow these
steps:
1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview
tab", select "Nova Scotia tax
credits".
2- On the page to your right, click on the plus
"+" icon to the right of the line "NS 428 line 62100 - Nova
Scotia political contributions tax credit".
3- On the new page generated, enter the amount of contributions
in the field "Provincial political contributions"
and click "Next" at the bottom of the page.
The program will calculate the amount for the Nova Scotia
Political Contribution Tax Credit, based on your total provincial
contributions, and report it to line 62100 of the form
NS428 - Nova Scotia Tax and Credits.
