Premiums payable to the RAMQ
For those who do not have a private health insurance offered by
their employer, the program makes automatic calculations for Quebec
residents regarding their premiums paid to the RAMQ.
The program will calculate by default the last date as December
31st of the taxation year. If you change it in your file, your
premiums to the RAMQ will be carried forward to the following
year.
If you have used this program in the previous tax year, the
deduction for the current tax year should be automatically entered
in your medical expenses in the current tax year.
To verify if your premiums have been carried over in your file,
click on the "Tax return" tab, and in the section
on your left, choose the line for "Medical expenses
(Federal)" and your premiums to the RAMQ for the previous
year should be displayed.
If this is not the case, return to the "Left side menu
on the Interview tab", select "Medical,
disability, caregiver" and on the right-hand side page
choose the option "Medical expenses". As for
the « fourth section », this section
deals with Quebec residents who contributed to
the Quebec Prescription Drug
Insurance last year. From the drop-down menu, choose
« Federal only (usual cases) » and enter
the amount you paid last year for the RAMQ.
However, if you changed your « Last date of medical
expenses (dd-mm-yyyy) » you must choose
« Federal and Québec » and enter
the amount paid the previous year
