Self-employment - Partner
If you are self-employed but have one or more partners in your
business, you must take this information into account in the
program and indicate the share of ownership of your partner or
partners in your business. To do so, please follow the steps
below:
1- On the "Self-employment income" heading from the
"Left side menu of the Interview tab", once you've completed
the appropriate subsections, select the subsection
"Partners".
2- On the screen to your right, you are provided with two
choices: "Spouse co-owner of this business" or "Other
partners or co-owners of this business".
If your partner is your spouse, select "Spouse co-owner of
this business". You must choose whether to generate or not the
statement of business income for the spouse from the drop-down
menu.
Enter your partner's share of ownership in the business in
percentage.
However, please note that if your spouse has expenses that
differ from yours, or if you claim the home office expenses, you
cannot generate the income statement for his/her business. You must
enter all your spouse's information in his/her file, as you did for
your file.
In the case of another person, choose "Other partner or
co-owner of this business" and enter the information about your
partner.
If you have multiple partners, at the bottom of the page on the
right, click the sign which is located
between "Previous" and "Next", that take you back to
the "Left side menu on the Interview tab" and choose
subsection "Partners" to add another page.
NOTE: The SIN of each partner is
mandatory to produce the Quebec return, if applicable.
