POLITICAL CONTRIBUTION TAX CREDIT - BRITISH
COLUMBIA
You can claim contributions you or your spouse made in the year
to political parties or constituency associations registered in
British Columbia, or to candidates in an election to the British
Columbia legislature.
To claim the amount in the program, please follow these
steps:
1- On the "Left side menu of the Interview tab", click on
"British Columbia tax credits".
2- On the right-hand side of the screen, go to the
"BC428" group, click on the plus "+" icon to the
right of the line "BC428 line 60400 - British Columbia political
contributions tax credit", then click "Next" at the
bottom of the page.
3- On the new page, enter the amount of contributions in the
field "Provincial eligible political contributions", then
click "Next".
The program will calculate the amount for the British Columbia
Political Contribution Tax Credit, based on your total provincial
contributions, and report it to line 60400 of the
form BC428 - British Columbia Tax.
If your total political contributions are more
than $1,150, the credit will
be $500 (maximum amount). If not, it will be
calculated on line 77 of the BC Provincial
worksheet from the left side menu, under the "Tax Return"
tab.
